Wiślica has existed for at least the ninth century. According to legend, the name of the settlement comes from the name of its founder, Prince Wiślan Wiślimir, who, along with his surroundings, was to be baptized in 880. Approximately 990 years ago, the castle hit Polan's hand. Wiślica became one of the most important administrative centers in Małopolska at that time, next to Cracow and Sandomierz.
